As you know, prior to relational model, database was modeled using Hierarchical and Network models. Read the details of these models from the web (some references are given as below).

Using 100 sentences each, briefly explain the concepts for each model (Hierarchical, network and relational). No diagrams.

Consider ER model of two entities EMPLOYEE and PROJECT related through WORKS_ON relationship type. The corresponding relational database schema/instance of EMPLOYEE, PROJECT and WORKS_ON relations is given (Figure 5.6 of Shyam Navathe et al DBMS book, fifth edition).

Try to show how the information on these three tables can be shown under Hierarchical and Network models.

Now, write about the merits and demerits of each model (network, hierarchical and relational model) by considering different advantages of DBMS such as data independence, efficient query processing, and ease of application development.
